Please join Advocacy For Autism and Autism Society Inland Empire for a complimentary training on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Temple Beth Israel, 3033 N. Towne Avenue, Pomona. We will host Ms. Hilary Jacobs Trout who is a Licensed Educational Psychologist with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She is a credentialed school psychologist and school counselor specializing in clinical child and school psychology. With over 15 years experience working in public and private school settings, she believes in working with the system, not against it. Her experience in public schools provides evaluations relevant to public school special education eligibility. Ms. Jacobs Trout also has been trained in the TEACCH approach, which is based on the premise that people with autism are predominantly visual learners, so intervention strategies focus on physical and visual structure, schedules, work systems and task organization. Ms. Jacobs Trout runs Jacobs’ Assessment Specialists in Claremont where she and her team specialize in helping parents who have students with learning challenges and/or autism. And most of all, Hilary is a parent of two children. She believes parents are the best advocates for their children. During her presentation, Ms. Jacobs Trout will be covering the importance of obtaining a good assessment, how to go about getting one that works with the public school system and valuable assessment tools for autism.
