Special Needs Advocates to Address Elopement and Wandering in Kids with Autism – Free Safety Kits

Please join Advocacy For Autism and Autism Society Inland Empire for a complimentary training on elopement/wandering issues in children with autism, including free safety kits. The training is on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Temple Beth Israel in Pomona, 3033 N. Towne Avenue.

We will welcome Ms. Marlene Lueck from Stand Out Advocates, LLC and Ms. Erin Wilson from If I Need Help. Both women are special needs advocates and parents of children with autism. They will address elopement issues and how to best prepare for it. They will share their personal insights and safety tips from their own experiences raising, advocating and loving their children with autism. They will also be addressing different areas of our lives where elopement/wandering may occur, including: at home, in the car, at school, during community outings and for their future.

Ms. Marlene Lueck is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and is currently finishing a master’s in psychology. Prior to co-founding Stand Out, Marlene ran Russell’s Reinforcers, an advocacy agency representing individuals with autism and related disorders.

Ms. Erin Wilson is co-founder of If I Need Help, which makes wearable iDs that link to a live profile, and also offers a free special needs registry. Through her organization, she has helped 14,000 people worldwide with special needs and has created over 40 iD products and alerts to help our loved ones with different sensory needs. They are vendored with Inland Regional Center (IRC) for free safety kits and will help process request forms at the July 17th meeting!

Social Security FREE Workshop

Social Security Benefits for People with Disabilities – Learn everything you wanted to know during a FREE workshop from Social Security featuring speaker Teresa Campbell. Ms. Campbell is the California Inland Area Public Affairs Specialist for the Social Security Administration. She has worked with the agency for over 25 years in both technical and supervisory roles. She has had several articles published.

At this FREE Workshop, you will learn:

*How to use your my Social Security online account and other online services.

*What are Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Benefits and how do you quality?

*What do you need to report when you receive SSI?

*What other Social Security programs are available, and who qualifies?

Learn how to use my Social Security online account and other online services. You should go to www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount to create a my Social Security account and print out your Social Security Statement before attending the workshop.
